Why did you not reach your financial
expectations in 2011?
We had very clear indications of several large HW orders from
existing as well as new US Government customers. In fact we belied
so strongly in these discussions that we started production of
readers in order to be able to deliver within 2011. As it turned
out, we failed to get the orders due to severe budget constraints.
We do however believe that possibilities remain to win some of
these orders in 2012.
Can you tell us about your new "Smart Casing"
product and why you choose this alternative instead of a fully
integrated solution?
We believe that our new Smart Casing, represent a new product
category, as it actually will be fully integrated to the
SmartDevice on which it is fitted. It saves the user from buying a
rubber/plastic protection case, and in addition it will not just
protect the phone when you drop it, it will also protect what is
inside the phone. The Smart casing further more allows for 3rd
party developers to build apps and other integration to our
device.
Can you briefly explain your launch strategy
and expectations on this product?
We have very high expectations for this product. During the
comings months we will be more specific in our communication, but
prefer to keep some of the details to ourselves a little longer for
competitive reasons.
Do you see a risk of the business area Mobile
to take focus from your efforts in IAM?
There should be no doubt that the majority of our focus will be
on Mobile as we can drive the business here more directly than we
have been able to in IAM. However, IAM and hereunder MoC solutions
continue to be a core technology and an important business area.
With Mobile we have just made ourselves less dependent upon getting
all incomes from IAM only.
Has the general acceptance for biometrical
solutions increased, decreased or stayed unchanged during
2011?
The Minex approval definitively increased the attention to
fingerprint solutions, as standardization has been a wish for a
long time. Another example of attention to and use of biometric
solutions growing was Apple's release of iPhone 4 S, where the most
prominent feature was the speech recognition feature, Siri. In 2012
you should only expect to see even more biometric solutions in your
everyday life.
Can you give us an outlook on today's
financial situation?
We consider the cash available by end of 2011 to be sufficient
for our current plans. Should more cash be required to secure our
planned growth, we will as always consult our shareholders on
this.
