Leading independent data centre and cloud services provider Proact is set to help improve NHS Blood and Transplant's technical and IT delivery capabilities by providing augmented resources on a call-off basis. The public body will introduce skills from Proact into its IT function covering networking, security, public cloud and more.
NHS Blood and Transplant provides blood, diagnostic and therapeutic services to every NHS Trust in England, and organ donation and transplantation services across the UK. To support these potentially lifesaving services, the IT function is focusing on modernising its estate to provide a strong and stable platform for the operation of safety critical services.
In order to complete strategic and tactical initiatives, including building new services and streamlining existing technologies, NHS Blood and Transplant sought a technical services partner that could offer specific skills to complement those in its Technology Services team. Proact will offer engineering resource in areas including: networking, severs and virtualisation, SAN storage, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365 and security. By utilising Proact's advanced skills in these areas, including accredited resource for specific responsibilities, NHS Blood and Transplant can ensure that it is offering an enhanced experience to donors, patients, hospital customers and staff.
Cultural fit was a huge factor when NHS Blood and Transplant was choosing a partner. Proact's resource will harmoniously collaborate with staff and will report into the organisation's Technology Service Managers. Proact will also embed a Technical Account Manager who will offer an in-depth understanding of NHS Blood and Transplant's internal systems, processes, goals and cultural factors to identify the right Proact resource for each task.
